“Flow” Series

“Flow” is an ongoing series of abstracted photographic art. In this series I look for the aspect of flow in earth, flora, fauna, and sky. I draw on a variety of techniques both at the time of capture and in the digital darkroom, making decisions involving blur, isolation, tonal inversion, and uniform cropping and color toning. Regarding those pieces that reverse tone values, I like the observation of Wynn Bullock that “A positive image that makes a plain object appear static can in a negative image make the same objects appear dynamic and full of motion.” Through sharing techniques across the series I try to emphasize how “flow” itself is shared by otherwise disparate subjects.
